Natalee and Bobby said their vows at St.Bedes in Pasadena. Then they gathered up their wedding party, hopped on an old red trolley and headed off for their reception at the exquisit Annandale Golf Club. The golf course is an absolutely beautiful spot for a wedding or reception. There was lots of room for everyone to mingle, dance and enjoy themselves and not to mention all the beautiful spots for photos.
We had so much fun last December running around with Natalee and Bobby on Balboa Island shooting engagement photos, that I’d be lying if I said we weren’t really excited for their wedding day. Natalee chose the beautiful Langham Hotel in Pasadena to get ready with her girls and I have to say it was a very relaxing spot for them to start this wonderful day. Bobby and his boys opted to put on their attire at the exclusive Jonathan Club in downtown LA. Both places leant themselves to beautiful photos. If you are a friend or family member interested in viewing more of the wedding, you can register to see the photos HERE. Also keep your eye out for more of their photos on the blog.
It's always beautiful to see something as fragile as a garter passed down through the generations.
I'm in LOVE with this one. Natalee you looked so beautiful!
Such a contrast to the mimosas and fruit platters all the girls were eating. Love it.
Around 3 pm I got up from my computer to take a quick break from editing and think about a little mid afternoon snack. Moseyed out into the kitchen to open all the drawers in the pantry and stand in front of the fridge for a while, just to close it and walk away with no snack. As I walked away I thought it was very odd that the light in the refrigerator had been off but naturally assumed it was Brett’s fault. Walked into our room to find my computer along with every piece of electronic equipment void of power. Thanks to Facebook and Twitter we quickly found out that everyone in San Diego was without power.
The greatest thing about the power outage was that in the afternoon families were out in the front yard together. Neighbors were hanging out and chatting, Families were out on bike rides. Brett was out front working on our new scooters when the power went out and a few neighbors came by, brought beer, and offered to help. Normally it would have just been us out there alone! There was a great feel of camaraderie in the community. Folks were walking to the homes of the elderly to see if they needed anything, and the mood was generally great. Once night fell we cooked an amazing dinner via hand lit gas stove and outdoor BBQ, eating things that would have perished in the fridge. Cheese and crackers for appetizers, with sides of fruit. Then began dinner, a lone New York strip and Rib eye that we had been seasoning in the fridge for a later date. No time like the present I suppose. Sides consisted of our favorite five grain mix from Trader Joes, Asparagus that would have gone bad and green beans sautéed with Shallots, a little butter and some agave nectar. All by candlelight and headlamps. Once we finished our feast with friends, Brett took off into the night with a camera and tripod in hand. First stop was Kate Sessions park. There he found droves of people laying in the grass on blankets, motorhomes with generators buzzing as people lounged and watched for the lights to come back on. However, because of the dew it was not ideal for pictures so he moved on to downtown to see the city in the dark under an almost full moon. Taking a few shots there he continued on to Coronado Island to catch a view from the other side. It was a magnificent sight and one not soon to be forgotten. Once safely home Brett reflected on the evenings events and came to the conclusion we should plan one of these once a month just to get people out of their houses and away from their tv’s. There is a whole missed community in California and its time to get to know your neighbors again.
“Wow! Stop the car!” Only hours before Brett had been excitedly hanging out in the back of Jeff and Kelsey’s truck as they drove the 3 hours out to Jeff’s Uncle’s ranch. There was lots of talk of the shoot ahead of them. What kinds of things Jeff and Kelsey liked to do together and how they might like to incorporate them into the weekend ahead. They loved images they had seen of old brass bed frames out in the middle of overgrown fields, but where could we find one of those? All this talk of vintage inspiration got Brett excited. “How amazing would it be if we could get an old claw foot bath tub out into a field,” Brett mentioned to Kelsey. The logistics of finding a bathtub and then transporting it to said field on such short notice made the idea a little unobtainable. Fast forward 3 hours and as they are driving down the winding road to the ranch, out of the corner of Brett’s eye he spots an old rusty tub in a field. Brett yells out to stop. Jeff screeches the truck to a halt on the side of the road and all 3 jump out to investigate. Well it wasn’t a claw foot tub but it was rusty and just about as cool. Kelsey, with her cute Mississippi accent, strolls on up to the owner’s house and charms the couple that own the field and tub into letting Jeff and Kelsey use it for their engagement shoot. Luckily the tub happend to be just 5 minutes down the road from Jeff’s Uncle’s ranch and was easy to treck back to around sunset. Sometimes the universe hears our crazy ideas and makes them a little easier to document.
Hello Gruene Texas!
Inside of Gruene dance Hall we found this beautiful wall of initials carved with love. So it was only appropriate that Jeff carve one for Kelsey.
