So I started this post about four times in four different ways and each time I looked back at the words sprawled across my screen and they just couldn’t express the weight of all the emotions of the day. Every little detail surrounding Jesse and Courtney’s wedding day was infused with the love they feel for one another, from the hand written journal Courtney started before she knew she was waiting for Jesse, to the words etched inside his wedding ring. As I mentioned in their sneak peek I’m not one regularly brought to tears, but as we sat in the bridal suite with curling irons steaming and makeup dusting the air, Courtney read out loud the first page of the journal intended for Jesse. I felt the moisture collecting at the corners of my eyes. Then again I felt the tears surface when her brother spoke of their love before everyone at the ceremony and when they exchanged vows. The final time my eyes welled up was as the family came up and toasted Jesse and Courtney, each telling such wonderful and loving stories of this incredible couple. I just can’t help but smile when I think of how two such loving and deserving people were brought together.

On a blizzard filled night in February, Jesse and Courtney’s lives were about to change forever. Courtney had accepted a calling to be a counselor at the Lost Willows Youth Camp where Jesse had been a youth leader for many years. Courtney pulled up to the snow-dusted youth camp for the first time. Innocently, she parked her car in an area meant only for busses, grabbed her bags, and headed off to unpack. Jesse arrived on the scene to find tour buses full of rowdy excited teens backed up as far as the eye could see. Pandemonium ensued. With the entrance blocked by cars the buses were unable to unload. So Jessie went in search of the owner of the Ford Escape which seemed to be the most offending culprit. After fifty minutes of frantic searching he finally had the identity of the Escape owner, Courtney Jones, and was off to find her. Jesse’s persistence brought him to the base of a snow encrusted staircase. His eyes rested on Courtney standing at the top. Giggling in embarrassment she descended in her six-inch stiletto knee high boots with Jesse’s eyes never leaving her. Later Jesse confessed, “When she reached the bottom I wanted to grab her left hand to see if she was married.” He secretly said to God, “I want to marry this girl one day.”
Happily for Jesse and Courtney “one day” turned out to be March 31 2012 (also his birthday). What an amazing gift.
Check back this Thursday the 19th for a peak at Jesse and Courtney’s ceremony and reception.
