We had so much fun with Becky and Marshall photographing their Scottsdale Engagement Session. They wanted something a little rustic and different so we headed over to Market Street at DC Ranch. This shopping center is just a photographers dream. We started under the huge rustic covered bridge that leads into the plaza. It is all rusty and awesome with tons of wonderful shade for portraits from there we explored the shopping center and enjoyed the plethora of different textures. Becky and Marshall are one of those couples that just make your job as a photographer so easy. They are just so fun and so in love, that you can’t take a bad picture of these two. After a great session exploring Market Street we picked a cute restaurant and sat down for a bite to eat and some great conversation with Becky and Marshall. Its always fun getting to spend a little extra time with our couples.

Well the funny christmas cards have started again. We took a year off in 2013 after our destination wedding, planning a fun house party reception and opening a new studio in AZ. But the over the top ridiculous Brett and Liz Christmas cards are back on. To answer everyones questions yes we wear lederhosens on a daily basis and spend a lot of time standing around petting chickens. I mean what else do you expect photographers to do in their spare time. Wonder what craziness is coming next christmas? us too.
Here are some of the totally ridiculous out takes from our funny christmas card photoshoot…. Enjoy, we certainly had a good time.
Some have been wondering where the chickens came from in our christmas card this year. Well we live in an awesome little Agrihood with an organic farm in the middle and happy chickens running around the orchards. There are some truly wonderful people working on at our neighborhood farm that were happy to laugh at our crazy outfits and wrangle up some chickens for our photos. A bit thanks to our farm friends!
Aubrey and Nam’s Green Gables wedding was truly spectacular. Aubrey had always figured that when she got married it would be a small intimate affair but with Nam’s large family to take into consideration a small destination wedding was out of the running. The Green Gables Estates turned out to be the perfect wedding venue for this vintage loving couple. Its an old school house turned wedding and event space in east San Diego. The interior of the school house is adorned with everything vintage from the love seats to the dressing tables, and the exterior is surrounded by enormous old weeping trees. It feels like you’ve stepped right out of the modern day hustle and bustle into a beautiful moment from the past. Aubrey added a lot of her own DIY vintage flare for her wedding day, with pinwheels, old books and bottles and little touches of burlap.
No DIY detail was spared for the wedding and this fabulous couple was even blessed with a touch of rain.
Aubrey’s wedding dress was right out of a fairy tale with all its beautiful beading.
One of the charms of Green Gables Estates is their friendly lamb and goat. The duo are left over from the days when the estate was used as a working school house ( or so we were told).
We just loved that all of Aubrey’s bridesmaids received a unique and different bouquet of flowers. Such a fun idea.
Aubrey and Nam wanted to spent as much time together on their wedding day as possible so they decided to do a first look out but the old swing. This also allowed them to rock through all their wedding party photos and family photos so they would have more time to enjoy their reception.
This one sums up their quirky and fun personalities… hanging in the old out houses.
Such a fun wedding party! Theses guys not only know how to dress well but have a great time!
Aubrey made a special boutonniere for her grandfather with a photo from his wedding day.
This wedding was DIY to the nines. Aubrey is incredibly talented and spent the many months before her wedding making all of the decorations. There were hundreds of handmade pinwheels to decorate with. She and Nam collected jars for their DIY centerpieces and she even made an awesome here comes the bride banner for all of the junior wedding party to carry.
Aubrey was so excited when the dark clouds rolled in and a little bit of rain sprinkled down after their ceremony. She loves the rain and we were more than happy to capture her and Naum dancing in it. Everybody likes a little extra good luck on wedding day!
As a thank you gift Aubrey and Nam had a popcorn station with multiple flavors. So cute and so tasty!
Not only is Aubry a DIY genius but she’s a singer as well. So as a special gift to Nam she sang and pre-recorded their first dance song. He was very happily surprised.
