These pictures came from one of our favorite parts of the day with Alison and Andy. Their coordinator Cindy Velaquista did a fantastic job of keeping every moment of Alison and Andy’s day running on schedule. We absolutely loved this because it meant we got more time with the lovely Bride and Groom after their ceremony. The Tanque Verde Ranch has the most beautiful little lake on their property, and Cindy took all of us there for a fantastic photo-op. On top of all the natural beauty around the ranch, Alison and Andy could not have picked a better time to have their wedding. All of the desert flowers were in bloom, allowing for some of the most incredible photographs. Thank You Alison and Andy for an absolutely incredible day.

Recently we joined Nacole Gray the creator of Rich Skinny Pretty at the San Diego Polo Club for the opening day of Polo Season. Nothing starts of a polo match better than a glass of champaign and some pretty girls. This year Nacole was asked by the SD Polo Club to style their opening day fashion show. She paired up with Gerhard Boutique to outfit her girls. To find out more about what the girls wore check out Rich Skinny Pretty. On Opening Day we showed up early to get our tickets and take some photos of the girls getting ready. When we entered the Tiki Club, where the girls were getting their hair and make up done the room was full of excitement, champaign and hairspray! It is always so much fun to be a witness to the creative process of styling. The polo matches were really fun to watch. I was amazed at how many times each player had to exchange his horse for a fresh one. It was mind boggling when one player kicked his stirrups free lined his horse up next to his fresh one and leaped from his tired horse’s back into his fresh horse’s saddle with out getting off and touch the ground. Not all the players felt the need for such a show. We can’t wait for the next polo match. But I think next time we are going to try the tailgating section and bring our own chairs.
We just want to say congratulations to newlyweds Alison and Andy! We had so much fun with them a few months back doing their engagement photos and we had even more fun with them on their wedding day. You couldnt’ have asked for a better day to get married in Arizona. It had been in the 90’s the week before, and dropped down to the 70’s for the day of the wedding. Beautiful clouds rolled in, making for even better pictures in an already gorgeous location. When it came time for the sun to set, we were given the most spectacular display of pinks and oranges across the desert sky. Here are some pictures of their beautiful ceremony at the Tanqua verde Ranch! Check back soon for part 2 of Alison & Andrew’s spectacular wedding day.

On Monday we were driving home from Tucson where we shot Alison and Andy’s beautiful wedding. Along the way we decided to stop and photograph some of the many dilapidated and ramshackle buildings that are scattered along the Interstate 8 and 10 in Arizona and California. After passing through the Agricultural station on the border of CA and AZ, we saw a group of old buildings and cars on the right and exited the freeway. Once off the highway the road quickly turned to dirt that seemed to be fine to drive on. Our borrowed Mini-van was handling it well. Elizabeth seemed a little worried but I thought it would be ok. Everything was going fine and we were getting closer to the buildings when suddenly the road dropped down a little hill and became a sandy wash. I decided to stay on the gas pedal to see if we could get across it to an area of harder dirt. Unfortunately the further we got down the wash, the deeper the sand became. I made one tragic mistake and lifted off the gas pedal for a slit second and that was it. We lost momentum and dug ourselves deeply into the sand. Amazingly we had traveled about 1/2-3/4 of a mile down the wash before getting stuck! We made three attempts to dig her out as well as airing the tires down to about ten pounds to get some more surface coverage on the sand. After about two hours of digging and jacking up the car and getting no where we threw in the towel and called a tow truck. After all it was about 95 degrees out there in the hot sand and Liz and our dog Piglet were beginning to overheat. Thank goodness we had cellular reception. It also didn’t hurt that we were close to the Border station just on the other side of the fence. After about 15 minutes a 4×4 tow truck showed up and dragged us out in no time. We made it out safely and learned our lesson by paying what I like to call “the stupid motorist tax, $150 in tow truck fees. Next time we’re in a van we will be sure to look ahead and watch carefully for any danger ahead… either that or we will just take our truck instead.
